A small introduction about you ✨
Hey! I’m Maitena and I just joined MVST as a Junior Product Designer. I’m originally from the Basque Country but I’ve been living in Barcelona for 4 years now. I studied Industrial Design but quickly moved into Digital Product Design with my first job and have been obsessed with it ever since. Outside of work I’m a big fan of good stories in any format (movies, books, a nice chat, etc.) and enjoy staying active (usually running, climbing or doing yoga). I’m also always down to meeting friends!
What's the most adventurous thing you've ever done, and what did you learn from it?
The most adventurous thing I’ve ever done is probably skydiving. I know it’s kind of a cliché but it really was something that I thought I’d never do since I’ve always respected heights. In the end, I got tricked by my sister to do it. It taught me that you should always do things even if you are afraid (another cliché, I know) and that you should always listen to your sister. Sometimes the things that scare you are actually the ones that feel the most rewarding. Fear is a great tool to make sure that everything goes well (I’m no kamikaze) but you shouldn´t let it paralyze you.
What's the most memorable piece of advice you've received, and how has it influenced your life?
Action is better than perfection! A mentor of mine told me to do things even if they aren’t perfect. I’ve actually been meaning to apply this more in my life as I tend to spend a lot of time planning things out. I’ve found out that usually experience is the best teacher and you can always learn and perfect something on the go. This advice has helped me to start some hobbies that I was putting off because I thought I wasn’t ready.
What's the most valuable lesson you've learned from a failure or setback in your life?
From every thing that went wrong in my life I’ve learned that everything is a lesson if you have the right mindset. I mean, it’s healthy to get frustrated or upset when something goes wrong. But it’s important to also be able to learn something from that.
