About Victor

  • Full Name: Victor Carmona Aliu
  • Home Country: Spain šŸ‡ŖšŸ‡ø
  • Position: Full Stack Developer

A small introduction about you āœØ

I’m Victor, and I’m based where I’ve been living all my life, at Viladecans, which is a small city in the metropolitan area of Barcelona, and, as I always like to say, its literal translation in English would be Dogville šŸ˜†

I’ve been interested in IT since I was a child, and I’ve done a bit of everything in the sector, though these last few years I’ve been focusing in web development, which is my favorite domain, and that’s why I’m a fullstack dev currently (with a particular interest in frontend).

What do you consider to be your greatest professional achievement so far?

I believe it would be related to my previous project, which is an ongoing AI chat app that allows to choose between the most popular models/agents, and in which I worked as a frontend dev. What makes it special is the fact that I joined the team when it was really small and when the app was still in a really primitive state, and when I left it the team had grown a lot in size and the app was already production-ready and in an stable state, with a lot of paying customers and success!

What do you do to provide yourself a good work-life balance?

I try to keep a strict routine and as much as possible separate work time and personal time. Also, remote work helps a lot with having extra time to allocate as you want!

Other than that, I try to often reserve some time to spend on hobbies, which in my case are mostly playing trading card games with my friends and videogames.

What's the most adventurous thing you've ever done, and what did you learn from it?

I’m not sure, but probably it would be the first time I went to a music festival šŸ˜„ It was far from home, and since I was going to stay for several days I went camping nearby with several friends. Since I’m a metalhead (🤘), these kind of festivals are usually packed with excitement, and on this particular case it was really eventful (for example, one of those days was really windy, and even for some exciting reason that I still don’t get to this day a small ā€œtornadoā€ was formed on our camp, and my tent went flying along with all of my things šŸ˜…)

I learned a lot from this experience, but the most important lesson that I would take would be that whenever and wherever you go, there’s always amazing people to meet, without the location nor culture mattering at all. Also, of course, how to mount a tent properly so that it doesn’t go flying 🤪
